Bustle Era  Skirt- creating a bustle skirt circa 1868-1889

Pattern Making and Fitting (Bustle era Bodice)-

$75 student,  $35 optional drafting kit, 3-15 students, All day class (can take 2 days for more intensive study at a cost of $100 student)

·                     How to take good measurements from Marna Jean's measurement chart.

·                     The bodice as it relates to all classes of Victorian ladies.

·                     Drawing paper pattern. Adding seam allowances.

·                     Making allowances for large bust cups.

·                     Cutting your muslin from the paper pattern, Sewing it.

·                     Fitting problems and fixing them.

·                     Adapting your basic bodice to different styles common in the period.

·                     Sleeves, collars and closures for your bodice.

·                     Making the basic sleeve and cuff variations for different years.

·                     Drafting collars for your bodice-the Military, the roll (round) collar, the stand-up collar, the ruffle collar.

·                     How much to allow for button closures, hooks and eyes, laces.

 

Sunbonnets

½ day $25 student plus $16.95 for pattern

  • Learn different methods for stiffening bonnet brims- cording, quilting, buckram, & slats
  • Correct fabrics and styles for different time frames
  • Hand and machine sewing techniques for applying ruffles
  • Using machine hemming feet
 

Parasols

Full day-$45 plus pattern $17.95 optional parasol frames and supplies available

  • Parasol seams
  • Identifying parasols from different periods and appropriate fabrics and trims
